Out of Town

My parents and my brother are leaving tonight and coming back tomorrow. It is very likely that during this entire time I will be doing nothing except bumming around. But my goal is to not do that.. haha yeah I set the bar pretty high. But seriously!! I'm going to:

1. Not open any new packs of gum (I probably have like 4 packs open right now, I think I'm good on that)

2. See someone I know. Anyone!

3. Clean my room at least a little bit, at least pick up all the things on hangers. Lyle already stepped on one of them :(

4. Do something that involves Chinese.

5. Do one lesson of this online Dutch course (extremely uncomprehensive)

What happened!

I was doing such a good job of blogging! And then exams started.

And then exams ended.

And now I'm at home, doing nothinggg. NOTHING! Hopefully next week I will start doing something. I'll let y'all know.

Hm I baked some banana muffins this past week. They were supposed to be banana nut muffins but I forgot to add the nuts.

I haven't been exercising much at all. It's been very rainy this week. Even in my thoughts, I'm not very ambitious.

I don't feel like sleeping.

That's all, folks.

Frenzy

Do you ever get this feeling of extreme happiness, like nothing can stop you, and you're floating, you've never felt this light before. You can do anything, and anything you do will just further encourage this feeling. You want to share this secret with everyone, but really they just don't get it. Some of them may go so far as to try to understand, or at least capitalize on the fringes of your bliss, but for the most part it is hard to mobilize people to respond at all but with bewilderment. Ultimately, it's the feeling that grabs a hold of you, no matter the cause. But it can't be sustained forever. Sometimes it comes to a jarring end, other times you gradually zoom back into your daily life and you are just you, not the discoverer of a new scientific theorem, not the champion of the world, but just you, studying hard for an exam.

Gum

OUCH OH MY GOD I just bit myself on the poor tender inside of my mouth. *chhhggeo* It made a nice meaty bite noise too. Oooh and I just felt the hole open up with a little bit of blood rushing out. Delish. Stupid gum.

I chew gum religiously when I'm studying or doing something stationary. When one piece runs out of flavor, I spit it out and pop in another piece. I eat a piece of gum after like everything I eat, except for fruit. Well actually, if I eat fruit I usually eat something else afterwards cause fruit is usually kinda tangy, and then I eat gum after that. XD I really should just brush my teeth. I have taken naps with gum in my mouth (Usually this is when I've just started a new piece of gum and then realize I'm sleepy; I don't want to waste a flavorful piece!).

The annoying thing about gum is, you can't eat while you're chewing (dude a few times I've been sucking on a tootsie roll while eating a nice piece of gum and it kinda coagulates a forms a long disgusting stringy piece of goop that you have to scrape out of your mouth!! don't try this at home kids)...wait ok duh but you also can't really drink anything, not even water, because then the gum gets grumpy and stops being a bouncy happy lil chicle.

I've had several different phases of gum. First, I liked that stuff that had a blue sparkly-ish package, the traditional silver Wrigley's wrapper, and the gum was white with little blue crystals. It was really weird because sometimes a stray blue crystal would get separated from the gum and I would have to spit it out. Ew. It was pretty cheap though, comparatively. During this time, I spent a lot of spare time separating the silver part of my gum wrappers from the paper and sticking it on stuff. I have this wooden chair with almost an entire leg covered with this stuff. Awesomee!

At one point, I experimented with some Dentyne but I don't really like the hard capsules. They're too small and it's a hassle to separate them if you want to carry them around individually.

Thennn I went through a cinnamon Trident phase. This is weird because I used to really hate cinnamon gum (ie Big Red - do they still make that?). I think I started on it cause I read an article that said cinnamon gum kills germs better than other flavors.

BUT THEN Sam Lee got me hooked on the "Tropical Twist" (read: orange) Trident flavor in like Sophomore year, but it took me like a whole year to admit it cause I don't think I started getting orange until Junior year. So good! This is a representation of how I don't get tired of stuff, cause we are now going on our 4 year anniversary. I might possibly be on my third pack this week.

YEP!!! The long history of me and gum.

FI-NAL-LY

Finance was the exam I was most worried about. Now that it's out of the way, I can relax! It's like summer already here!!! Not quite, but the weather seems to think so. Must get used to sweating all the time. -_-;;

*sigh* Did not get the aforementioned job; I called today and they said they had already hired someone.

On a more positive note, I'm eating an egg sandwich sometime tomorrow in the first part of the day, hoorah!

Today there was an Asian girl on the elevator with me who only had one arm. I wish I knew her story. In fact, everyone I meet, I wish you could just read their stories. Their histories, how they got where they are, their darkest secrets. That's why I like blogs and biographies and autobiographies, you get to see people's lives played out. They're all so different, random, and it's just so raw to see things happening and changing. There's drama, tragedies, wild successes...but most people you meet, you will never know most of it.

Peanut Butter

I have a huge craving for peanut butter right now. (Ooooh had a terrific brunch btw, 1 sesame seed bagel[350)+1/4 cinnamon raisin bagel(80) with cream cheese(100)/smoked salmon(180)/onion/cucumber/tomato/not enough capers and also some butter(40), cornbread with butter(60), this weird chocolate cake stuff(50), got tricked into trying this lemon cake(20) - I thought it was cornbread! lemon cake tastes AWFUL with butter btw, some fruit(50), some yogurt(70), a piece of unidentified random cake that was probably apple cinnamon(30), and MILK(90) = 1120, enough food for an anorexic girl to live off of for a week! nomnomnom!)

I don't even think that's peanut butter actually, but it looks enough like peanut butter that I want some!!! Oh my god:

That looks like heaven. My ideal of a paradisaical home would be a white chocolate peanut butter cup big enough for me to live in. In a consistently cold but not freezing region. Yeah..yeaaah. So I've had just plain white chocolate peanut butter but here's a secret: it's not that great!!

Almost 5 AM!

I haven't been up this late in a while! Not that I am doing anything great, but I don't feel too terrible about it right now. I am studying, but I'm kind of enjoying it and I'm half doing some leisurely internet reading as well. About what, I could never tell you. Also tomorrow is SUNDAY, which means I don't have to know it all yet. Not until Monday.

Anyway, after studying for at least half of today, I've learned a lot of material that clears up some blatant mistakes that I made on the 2nd midterm and the problem sets. You know, mistakes where you think to yourself dang how did I miss that or WOW whoever grading me must have thought I was a complete idiot!

So I've never really been into the whole "nom nom nom" deal because I thought it was a weird thing that was somehow related to Latin and that just wasn't really my scene. But over time and through a great deal of observation and some self contemplation, I've realised that not only is it used by many types of people, but that it is in fact a very suitable and appropriate word especially for circumstances requiring a sound that conveys deliciousness.

I feel semi-triumphant when my roommate's sleep is interrupted by her own drooling/snoring because then I'm like ha it bothers you too! But then I remember that she is, after all, sleeping -while I am awake, wasting away- and I am humbled. Ahaha I can't wait to share this revelation with her tomorrow.

Okay back to hustling hussies. Err.. studying.

Success!

Today I went to Sitar, my favorite local Indian buffet. I walked in, perused the buffet area and..after a few moments of consideration..rejected it!! I don't think this has ever happened to them. I told the waiter and when I sat down my friend heard him say: "Uhh..someone wants the menu... (wtf?!?!!)"

I ordered these vegetable balls which were not exactly the same thing as what I had been imagining, nor were they as amazing, but they were still really good. I finished my entire bowl thing of rice so that I could get some MOREE for the part that I wanted to take out.

Then I conked out for about three hours with gum in my mouth. Gross. That is what Sitar will do to you. When I took Lyell there, he fell asleep while we were still eating; err I guess at that point it was just me eating. Although for him, this is a more common occurrence than you might imagine. =P
