Murphy's Law is a huge dick.

Seems like so many big things that I get excited about always go wrong. Here are some examples:
1. Get to stay at a nice hotel. What really happens? I flip over a car.
2. Go out for drinks on company tab. Actually? I accidentally suffocate myself and nearly go unconscious.
3. Sign up for a cruise with my fav people. A. The US govt is a bitch and B. I am not really their fav person back so they drop the fuck out.
4. Want to go on a road trip...too bad the Canadian border is way too complicated apparently. Come on it's not Mexico how bad can it be??

My reply: Great! Thanks!

Louisa – Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. Thanks for reaching out. I think you were a very strong candidate and you will find a great job. You were in our top quartile of candidates. First, I would not get discouraged – the interview process is a total numbers game. Continue to take as many interviews as you can to get the experience, even if you don’t really want the position. Like I said, you were a very impressive candidate. I would focus on speaking with conviction and anticipate the types of questions that will be asked of you in an interview. This all comes with practice. You have all of the relevant experience and impressive pedigree, the most important thing is confidence (not arrogance) in answering an interviewer’s question.

Watch out

Today when I got to the swimming pool, there was only one open lane and it was by the wall, but I took it anyway. There weren't that many people there - almost everyone had a lane to themselves. I had been swimming for about 10 minutes with no interruption when an Asian man asked to join me. I said of course, but as he got in and started swimming, I realized I was outraged at the man.

I was unsure as to why I was so upset at this because I have, in the past, shared lanes with random people without wanting to punch them every time we passed each other in the pool. Then I realized it was because there were so many other lanes with only 1 person in them that were NOT next to the wall - if you're next to the wall, the waves from the other person are like 10xs bigger and it's so annoying!!

But of course there was really nothing I could do about it without being a little bit ridiculous so I just seethed to myself for the duration of my work out. Also, right after I got out of the pool, he did as well. -_- Grr.

The other day I tried to buy chocolate covered pretzels at the school store thing, which were ~$3.69/lb. The man rang it up as peanut butter covered pretzels, which were ~6.39/lb. I notified him of his error, and he kind of just stared at me, and I offered to check the code on the container and he was just like, "NO. The total is only around $.80 and I am not ringing it up again."

I was so appalled that he refused to charge me the correct price for my pretzels! So I was just like...nevermind then. >.>

Today I purchased Starburst Crazy Beans, which is a twist on normal Starburst jelly beans (which are WAY better than jelly belly jelly beans, jsyk). They look pretty good but I personally prefer the normal flavor. So if you find yourself trying to decide between the two, I would recommend the latter.

My favorite month!

I'm so upset that I didn't blog at all in February because not only is it my favorite month, but also I should really blog way more than once a month, and definitely more than 0 times a month...therefore I am double posting because clearly that balances everything out.

Life in February:
-depressed from getting no job interviews
-depressed from doing terrible job interviews
-wanna go back to Belgium!
-eating a lot as usu, including wild gummy bears
-drinking a lot of green tea frappucinos
-my 21st birthday, holla!!
-Andre Agassi came to give a talk at Penn. I RSVP-ed an hour after they announced this, had a midterm right before the talk, arrived slightly late and got put into the room with a projector of Andre Agassi in the auditorium next door...did not see the man lol.
-still have not seen the house I'm living in next year, although I have paid a good $1300 towards rent

Tomorrow my brother's school is having crazy hat day and I have this awesome hat I want him to wear but I don't know where it is!!! He got a haircut today and looks less like a punk!

My karaoke machine sucks. There are less than 10 songs I can actually sing along to, and it's a harsh grader. I only received 15/100 pts for the first song I attempted on it today!

I would give up Chipotle for a year to have a summer internship right now.

By the way, if you are reading this right now, I love you! :)

Special Abilities

Everyone has some unique qualities that are either hyped-up versions of normal abilities or just something you can do that most people can't. For example, I know this girl who can lick her elbow!! Although the individual quality by itself isn't completely exclusive to yourself, the combination of all these special abilities is.

I would say my special abilities include (but-are-not-limited-to):
1. Being able to recognize similarities between people and otherpeople/animals.
2. Stretchy stomach
3. Not blinking in the staring game
4. Most unsuspected gangsta in Mafia
5. Unhairy legs

The point is, I used to be able to not eat late at night if I brushed my teeth no matter how hungry I got, but now I just give in - all the time! :(

I might be getting my driver's license back this week!!! (watch out CH! XD)

Whoa

Somehow I kind of forgot about updating like I knew I had to blog but I forgot the fact that I had to update to like...maintain it you know? It doesn't just take care of itself!!!

Well I have been back at school for...two and a half weeks, 17 days. In that time, I have gone to swim practice 5 times, gone on two midnight runs, and visited the gym three times. I think I'm still gaining weight though!! -.- I either need to eat less or buy new clothes.

Tonight I think I might try lifting, I'm too tired to run, and I'm too full haha. I just ate this huge omelette and toast with butter and jelly. But I'm so sleepy. I've been stressing out over jobs and not having one. It would make me really happy to be gainfully employed this summer.

Classes this semester:
1. Advanced Corporate Finance - a lot of cases in this class, will be a lot of work
2. Corporate Valuations - a TON of reading, not only do we have like 300 pages due already, but it's suuuper dense too ugh
3. Law of Corporate Finance - I love this class, the professor makes it so worth it
4. Agents, Games, and Evolution - a game theory class, it's really fun except it seems like we'll be talking about prisoner's dilemma the whole time but it's okay; I'm going to write a paper this weekend about mafia and it will count as a grade for this class haha the professor is super cool!
5. Advanced Nutrition - even though the first class was "really dry," I really enjoyed it anyway! I think I definitely want to do a nutrition minor.

Toothbrush Drama

The other day, I was sleeping over at Anna's house along with Jean. Except Jean had not planned on sleeping over, so she hadn't brought a toothbrush. Brushing your teeth is extremely important because everything feels gross if you don't!! So after much debate, it was decided that Jean would accept a brand new toothbrush from Anna.

The next day, I packed up everything to leave and Jean did as well except she didn't know what to do with the newly acquired toothbrush. Anna basically said, ew I don't want it it has your germs, keep it please. Jean asked for some plastic wrap or a ziploc baggie to keep it in, but Anna being the true conservationist that she is, didn't want to provide one just so Jean could take the toothbrush to her home which was only 5 minutes away. But the problem is, we were going to go to Chick-Fil-A in-between so Jean couldn't just carry it in her hand - so Anna told her to leave it because she thought Jean was going to come back to Anna's house while Jean thought that Anna was just going to keep the toothbrush safe with her until next time.

I observed this without a word.

After Chick-Fil-A, Anna took me home at which point I realized I had no key so I had to return to her house. Then, Anna realized Jean did not in fact have plans to return to Anna's house, but took her back anyway to get the toothbrush. When I got back to Anna's house, I brushed my teeth and placed the toothbrush on the counter so that it could dry. When my mother picked me up, I left it there.

Happy new years!!!

Last year was totally different from any other year in some ways but in one respect it was the same: I still have a lot of bad habits. I'm going to try and break them this year!!

2011 - such a strange year, it's an odd number you know and it's prime and it's the first 0 vs 00. Okay wait I guess 2010 was too but there were still two 0's..

Here's some resolutions off the top of my head:

1. Concentrate on goals!! Right now they are: unpacking and packing, writing my frrreakin paper, preparing for OCR??
2. Try to eat less refined carbohydrates.
3. Stop biting people's heads off - mostly my parents.
4. Exercise BEFORE midnight.
5. Sleep at least 6 hours a night..ideally 8 but you gotta start somewhere.
6. Throw away things that I don't need. I have a ton of essentially useless crap!
7. Don't be so pre-judgmental.

I feel very affectionate this morning even though Melanie stole all the blankets; maybe I should go cuddle with her ^_^ Good way to start 2011! Okay I really must pack before my parents start in on me. Bah. Hope they haven't noticed the ping-pong table yet..I ought to go down and inspect it but I'm scurrred yo.
