Impulse buy is curbed! ...leading to a perfect weekend. Definitely correlated.

This month I decided to try to make only healthy/necessary/social grocery store food purchases, meaning no cookies/sugary cereals/candy/frozen non-veg foods.

So I was at the grocery store (quite a common event) last Friday buying up some stuff for Lyell's impending arrival. Which was pretty much just milk and shredded mozz cheese..and the obligatory on-sale fruity items which accompany every grocery trip (in this case, bananas which were 49¢/lb instead of the usual 69¢/lb!). I was going down the ice cream aisle, just to see what's up; yeah I like to be in the know about the latest frozen confectionery deals. Anyway, after passing the ice cream (Breyer's was only $2.99 a box! Ben and Jerry's is soo expensive @ 2 pints/$7 but I guess that's the same price as a scoop at the store), I got into the popsicle section and I contemplated how good a Klondike bar would be..

But ANYWAY, there were these Creamsicles that were only 50 cals a bar, and they were on sale, and they were all natural or whatever and I was like ZOMG SO GOOD YUMM I mean they were all swirly and colorful, I could practically taste the creaminess. I snagged a box and quickly headed for the checkout. But once I was in line I was like.. wait a second. This is still all sugar. MAYBE it's "natural" and "on-sale" and only 50 cals each, but it still has 0 nutritional value and it's not free!!! So I went and put it back.

Somehow the cheese never made it through checkout and I don't know why.

On Saturday Lyell and I ate funnel cake, grade school type pizza and fried oreos. The oreo line was not so much a line as a survival of the pushiest type contest. We re-befriended a lovely tall girl who furthered our mission to obtain the coveted treats.

Sunday we visited a very bare looking Princeton. We saw Anna who was studying from some really old looking textbooks that looked 70's-esque. I ate a chocolate bunny that was chilling in her lounge. Then she took us to her dining hall...amazingg! I won't go into detail, (although I want to) but I do want to give a shout out to my favorite thing which was part of the salad bar: HOLLA to the itty olive bits with cheese and salami!!!

Oh yeah also at Princeton there was this random library with cool colorful expensive looking furniture (probably around thousands apiece; universities like to spend money on that kinda thing). The weird part is we couldn't find out how to get to the library part so we just chilled in this random faculty lounge. There was nothing good in the [really awesome looking] refrigerator though. :(

Maybe not what you would dream up as a perfect weekend, but I just had so much fun with Lyell from the ordinary stuff like riding trains, walking around, cuddling (aww) and it was exciting too, navigating the Fling carnival, finding our way around Princeton (so picturesque!), exploring the weird-shaped library (pictured above), and also this delicious ice cream place that blends all the toppings, mmmm.

Ooh something very exciting happened this morning. I had to use the bathrooms on the rooftop cause my roommate was taking a shower. While I was up there, I took a bundle of paper towels for cleaning purposes BUT THEN as I was walking out of the bathroom, I spotted a cleaning cart on which there was an entire extra half roll of paper towels (half of a giant bulk sized roll)! YEAHHHH PAPER TOWEL BONANZA! They are somewhat crappy quality but I really like them because though they are thin, they are also very sturdy. I would make a fantastic janitor.

I think I need to change my sleep pattern. Last night I slept between like 2-5ish and then from 8:30-11 AM and I've been VERY alert all day!! I'm not sure if it's because I got a lot this weekend or if it's just good for me to sleep in separate segments. Ahh it's called polyphasic sleep. Yeeeah not very practical I guess. =/
